Certain aspects of constructive mathematics — that is, of mathematical traditions that aim to provide more computationally informative proofs than classical mathematics — are deeply connected to the theory of programming; increasingly, they also tend to influence some of its practice.
In this seminar we will discuss the basics of some of the most important traditions of constructivism in mathematics, both in terms of what working within those constructive frameworks entails, and in terms of their metatheory. The core reading material will be based on selected chapters of "Constructive Mathematics" by Troelstra and van Dalen.
